On Correcting Others

How can you say to your brother, "Brother, let me take out the splinter that is in your eye, when you cannot see the plank in your own?"
Luke 6:41

It is by removing the plank from our own eye that we help our brother. A clear eye is the best witness, a clean life the most inspiring means of correction.

If we think long and hard about the proper words to say to our neighbor, what have we accomplished? Normally they do not even want to hear these words and will close their minds to them. When we show them a loving life, it’s amazing how often they may even ask us for a word.
