How to Volunteer

A Simple House has full-time, part-time, and occasional volunteers.

Full-time Volunteers live in one of our two houses and they are expected to participate in all aspects of the ministry, attend daily mass, and pray the psalms during morning and evening prayer. If you are interested in becoming a full-time live-in volunteer, there is an application and interview process. To find out more about this process and receive more information on becoming a full-time volunteer, please Contact Us. There is a rolling acceptance policy for live-in volunteers.

Part-time Volunteers make a regular weekly or monthly commitment to A Simple House. Part-time volunteers may participate in all aspects of ministry. If you are interested in becoming a part-time volunteer, please Contact Us so we can answer questions, tell you about opportunities, and set up a meeting.

Occasional Volunteers include individuals and church groups that minister through general outreaches or work days. A Simple House is committed to having four annual general outreaches. These include a school supply outreach (during late August), a Thanksgiving outreach (usually the Sunday before Thanksgiving), a Christmas outreach (usually the Sunday before Christmas), and an Easter Outreach (usually the day before Easter). If you or your church would like to help prepare or distribute a general outreach, please Contact Us.

Missionary Training is provided for all full-time volunteers. Part-time volunteers are expected to read The Missioner’s Manual prepared by A Simple House, may participate in other training, and will be paired with an experienced volunteer for missionary work. All occasional volunteers meet before a general outreach for prayer, reflection, and logistical planning. If a Church group or organization is interested in hosting a night for missionary training using the Simple House approach, please Contact Us.

Please pray for Our Work, sign up for our Newsletter, and consider making a Contribution.
